dilly post-main update (sylus arc) thoughts: wah… i am in love. the way infold writers create such a unique depiction of the n109 zone and a rollercoaster of a story for mc! i adore the entrance and departure of dimitri’s character, having first met him as your shielding protector to later, your very own killer… how maniacal he sounded as he began to reveal his true nature and intentions! (extremely vivid voice acting btw.. it was insanely good for everyone during this new update) i have absolutely no idea how mc processes these revelations, how harsh and cruel it must be to hear you don’t belong in the world you’ve made into a home, the only world you remember. that’s why the connection between sylusmc is insanely special to me (as is zaynemc!) because of how much they always remind you of your own strength and relieve that unease inside you, how often they will have you know your presence and the essence of your being belongs in their world, if nowhere else. it moves me every time mc is given such gentle love and care despite protesting to be capable on their own, when mc is reminded to be more self aware of their own life and limits— to be less self sacrificial and to be more selfish (cue sylus saying “i don’t mind being used by you.” playing in a loop) it comes instinctual to him to watch over you… whether as a child, the gladiator who took you away from constant terror and battle, or as the man who’s settled himself nearby and watched you grow up from afar, he’s always been there to pull you out, and he will always be there to save you.

Amicia wasn't entirely ignorant to the practice, but most things certainly did go over her head-- way over, even.

But Lucas knew that already, else, why would he favor giving her his attention, instead of continuing his notes from prior? "W-what do they look like? We can look for them, together."

It would be good to keep herself busy. She wasn't so keen on staying put for a moment longer.

Really, she would rather be doing something more proactive for their situation-- getting Hugo the help he NEEDED. The longer she waited around, the more tempting it was to leap out the nearest window, Hugo in tow, and merely continue to seek out answers for herself, as she had done before.

THAT would be stupid, especially in her current state. She's done more stupid things in the past, though.

"I'd assume you have a picture of them in that book of yours?" She nodded towards the discarded book, only to WINCE shortly after. The action, though barely one at all, was enough to jar her head and make her feel dizzy. The world felt as if it had shifted from underneath her, and for a moment, the brunette had to brace herself against where she now sat. For all the pain she felt, the most prominent expression on her face was annoyance above all else.

ANNOYED at being rendered helpless.

Well, I’m usually super supportive of whatever fandom I’m in. Like I’ll go all in, little to no shame, if it’s my problem it’s yours now, too. But the moment I get back into Supernatural I just. Seok-ju isn't even religious, but there was a brief moment just a few seconds ago, when the caffeine and its associated warmth had first sloshed happily down his throat, coating tongue and palate on its way down with the sugary mixture of an unstirred multi-layered coffee, where Seok-ju had found, perhaps, they had achieved absolution in spite of their lack of faith.

That thought isn't even an exaggeration.

Kindness isn't taken for granted. Sure, Seok-ju meets kindness with a nonchalant air, but that's generated from a casual way of presenting themselves to the world, just an officer, a detective, trying to make things a little easier, a little better in the world.

Or generated from the intense self-awareness of there being something entirely far too wrong with him.

Jae-hwan seems to have a similar air about himself. The mention of Seok-ju's sister, even, is categorized as an act of such kindness, enough that Seok-ju's eyes widen minutely, keeping their gaze trained on Jae-hwan's features as if he'd just delivered a line worthy of a historical record of high importance.

The kindness of remembering Seok-ju even has a niece.

Seok-ju mellows out into a pleased chuckle, settling back, arm outstretched with fingers still wrapped around the offered sugar and caffeine bomb. He's spinning the cup slightly, as if that would somehow create enough momentum inside to stir and mix its contents.

"Your wish has been fulfilled," Seok-ju lowers his head in the mock intensity of his dramatics. They sit upright again, blinking in the pretense of overwhelming gratitude. They are grateful, just not genuinely at anime moe level.

"How can I ever repay you?" they can't keep the act up for too long, though. Still an adult, still trying to appear responsible and sensible and normal, kind of like Jae-hwan himself. A bit of a mystery to Seok-ju, who'd never gotten an opportunity to dig through the surface of that pleasant demeanour, a smile worthy of a role model, a standard to live by, in terms of being approachable.

"Seriously, my niece might have my head on a stick if I dedicate everything to you, but let me repay you. As exaggerated as this may sound, I was this close," Seok-ju's free forefinger touches his free thumb, "to losing a few teeth with how hard I was clenching my jaw. This seriously helped."

The line stretched endlessly down the block, and Rafe’s patience was wearing thin. “Fuck, this line is taking forever,” he muttered, rolling his eyes and letting out an exasperated sigh. The arm he had slung casually around your shoulders tightened ever so slightly, drawing you closer as you chuckled softly.

Your fingers lightly traced his bicep, glancing down at your phone to check the time. Forty-five minutes. That’s how long you, Rafe, and Topper had been stuck in the queue for the club, surrounded by a crowd of impatient partygoers. “I gotta take a piss, you comin’?” Topper asked, slapping Rafe on the back.

“Yeah, give me a sec.” Rafe turned to you, leaning down to press a sloppy, possessive kiss to your lips. His warmth lingered as he pulled back, his voice low. “Be right back, babe.” You nodded, humming softly as he stepped away, already missing the weight of his arm around you. With nothing else to do, you leaned against the metal barrier, scrolling through TikTok to pass the time.

The occasional murmur of the crowd barely registered until a light tap on your shoulder snapped you out of your scrolling. “Excuse me, miss,” a guy said, and you turned to face him with a hint of confusion. He held a camera in his hand, another guy standing beside him. “Do you mind if we interview you for a minute? It’s for our YouTube channel.”

You raised an eyebrow. The accent wasn’t local, and you immediately knew they weren’t from Kildare—nobody around here would even think to call themselves a YouTuber. Still, curiosity got the better of you, and you offered a polite laugh. “Okay, sure.” You turned fully to face the camera, brushing your hair over your shoulder.

“What’s something you wouldn’t want your future husband to know about you?” the guy asked with a grin, holding the mic out toward you. You let out a soft giggle, contemplating your answer as a familiar figure caught your eye in your peripheral vision. Rafe and Topper were making their way back, and their expressions were far from amused.

By the time you opened your mouth to respond, Rafe was already at your side. A firm hand landed on your bare shoulder, the weight grounding you. Rafe’s presence was imposing, his tall frame towering over the YouTuber and his friend. Topper flanked the other side, his arms crossed as he sized up the duo.

“Absolutely nothing,” you finally said with a playful smirk, clicking your tongue. “Because I’m perfect, beautiful, and amazing.” You winked at the camera, your confident tone masking the tension simmering in the air. “Yo, what the fuck’s goin’ on here?” Rafe’s voice was low, his tone sharp as he furrowed his brows.

His hand slid from your shoulder, resting possessively on your right boob, his fingers lightly squeezing as if to stake his claim. “She’s just getting interviewed,” the guy stammered, his chuckle nervous as his gaze darted between Rafe and Topper. “I’m a YouTuber.” “A YouTuber? In Kildare?” Topper scoffed, shaking his head with a mocking laugh. “That’s rich.”

Rafe’s hand didn’t budge, instead, he gave it another squeeze and you reached up instinctively, resting your hand over his in an attempt to ease the tension. The YouTuber tried to continue, his voice faltering under the weight of the stares. “Yeah, nothing crazy, man—”

“Nah, I think we’re done here,” Rafe cut him off, his smile sharp and anything but friendly. He shot a glance at the camera, his jaw tight, before gripping your hand and pulling you firmly away. You couldn’t help but glance back, catching the shaken expressions of the YouTuber and his friend as Topper trailed behind.

When you finally looked up at Rafe, his gaze was hard, but there was an unmistakable flicker of pride in his eyes. You knew better than to say anything, though; this was Rafe’s way of making it clear you were his.
